West Long Term Recovery continues to work towards winding down. As a result of the work of the Long Term Medical and Mental Committee (LTMMC), West Long Term Recovery will be partnering with many local organizations for a finale of community outreach before closing its doors. This community outreach effort will consist of nine events occurring over the next three months. These events will focus on different areas of potential future concern. The format of each event will differ slightly, depending on the topic and the speakers. The objectives for this 9-part series are as follows:
- Provide a final opportunity for West residents to connect with experts in the areas that we anticipate needs will continue to arise over the course of time including: hearing experts, dental experts, experts in traumatic brain injury cases, mental health care professionals with disaster relief and trauma expertise.
- Provide West residents an opportunity to transition from working with West Long Term Recovery to working directly with experts and organizations who will have the ability to assist West residents for many years to come.
- Provide a venue for community sharing and community growth as we continue down road to recovery.
The first of the 9 events will be presented by West Area Ministerial Alliance on Thursday, November 13th at 6:30 pm at the West Community Center. This free event will be open to all. The spiritual leaders of the West community will tackle the topic “Why do bad things happen?” Please join WAMA for this community sharing event as we continue to grow stronger in our faith in order to better serve our neighbors and the community of West. Dinner will be provided.
