West Long Term Recovery would like to thank Dr. Sara Dolan and Baylor University for joining us on Saturday to share her expertise in the area of Traumatic Brain Injury. Those who attended learned the definition of Traumatic Brain Injury, symptoms, the best approach to treating each symptom, and helpful tips as we work with loved ones who may be exhibiting these symptoms. Dr. Dolan and her team at Baylor will continue to offer free evaluations and treatment for anyone affected by the explosion. Dr. Dolan will return to West on Saturday, January 17th at 11 am to present a second informational session at the Community Center entitled “Substance Abuse: Don’t Let One Disaster Lead to Another”. This event is free and brunch will be provided. Dr. Dolan joined the Baylor faculty in 2007, after serving as a National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism-funded Postdoctoral Fellow and subsequently a National Cancer Institute-funded faculty member at the Brown University Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies. She earned her B.S. degree in psychology from Indiana University, followed by her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa. Dr. Dolan then completed her clinical internship at Yale University, in the Division of Substance Abuse. Dr. Dolan’s areas of academic interest and research include neuropsychological functioning and substance abuse treatment, as well as diagnosis and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Please join us this Saturday as Dr. Dolan shares her expertise with the West Community as we continue down the road to recovery.
