LONG-TERM RECOVERY UPDATE
It’s been another busy week at the West Long-Term Recovery Center. Our mission is to coordinate services and provide access to the resources you need to recover. Walk-in services include:
Case Management – We now have a caseworker on site who can help with your immediate and short-term needs, as well as identify your personal long-term needs. This is a required step in determining your eligibility to receive disaster funds. If you have not come by to register, please do so as soon as possible.
Business Center – We have Internet-ready workstations set up for your use.
Employment Assistance – If you are unemployed, come in to speak with a Work Force Solutions specialist to connect you with area jobs and other employment services.
Services Directory – This is a categorized list of services being offered to residents free of charge, from chiropractic care to facial reconstructive surgery to yard maintenance. Need a new mattress? Come in and register for one free mattress for each member of your family. You will need to provide a water bill as proof of residency.
Demolition Registration – If you want your name on the list for free demolition services, you must stop by and sign up. Specific instructions will be provided for you outlining the steps you must take before demolition crews can schedule your work order.
Homeowner Job Orders – If you need an extra pair of hands to tackle a specific job, come in to the LTRC and fill out a request for help. We will match you up with volunteers who are ready and willing to lend a hand.
Volunteer Worker Registration – Do you have some time to give to this recovery effort? Log on to our website at www.westltr.org or walk in and add your name to our volunteer database, listing your skills and availability.
If you are a charitable organization, corporation or individual who wants to be added to our resource list of providers, please call us at 254-826-7550 so that we can connect your services with our citizens.
Your Long-Term Recovery Center is located in the old Best Theatre at 218 N Main St. next to the Czech American Restaurant. Our hours of operation have expanded! We’re now open to serve you 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday – Saturday. We will be open Memorial Day – Monday, May 27th.
